Each year, the Villanova Law Review participates in the following events:

Norman J. Shachoy Symposium

The Law Review sponsors the Norman J. Shachoy Symposium, a full-day event featuring experts discussing a particular legal topic. Symposia panelists are also invited to publish with the Law Review in our special Symposia issue, published each year.

The annual Villanova Law Review Symposium is named for Norman J. Shachoy, Class of 1961, who served as Editor-in-Chief of the Law Review. The naming was made possible through his generous support, along with that of his son, N. James Shachoy, Class of 1986.

Donald A. Giannella Memorial Lecture

The Donald A. Giannella Memorial Lecture is an annual endowed lecture series honoring the memory of Villanova faculty member Donald Giannella, whose interest in law and morality stemmed from a belief that engaging in the study or practice of law is impossible without also grappling with questions of morality, conduct, and justice.

Through the generosity of Professor Giannella’s family, colleagues, Law School alumni, and other friends, an endowed fund was established to honor the distinguished scholar and beloved educator who died in 1974. The resulting lectureship brings a leading scholar to Villanova each year. The presented paper is subsequently published in the Villanova Law Review.

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Lecture Series

The Villanova University Charles Widger School of Law hosts the annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Lecture Series, sponsored by Pepper Hamilton LLP, to commemorate the life and mission of Dr. King. This lecture series is part of Villanova University’s annual MLK Celebration, which consists of lectures, programs, workshops, and service opportunities highlighting Dr. King’s visions of peace and social justice. The Villanova Law Review is honored to republish these lectures.
